ideological marxist, who developed political theories which he called Leninism. Throughout Lenin's lifetime in the political field, he served as head of government of the Russian Republic from 1917 to 1918, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic from 1918 to 1924, and the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1924. Under his influence, Russia and the wider Soviet Union later grouped up to become a one-party socialist state governed by the Russian Communist Party.

Mummification Edit

When Lenin died in January 1924, many envisioned that his body would be buried in a closed tomb on Moscow's Red Square; since most Soviet leaders opposed the idea of preserving the body for temporary public display. However, due to the cold weather, Lenin's body was kept in fairly good condition, which led leaders to reconsider the idea of preserving the body for a longer period of time. The responsibility for the preservation of the body was publicized to the Soviet science and researchers to avoid any association of Lenin's remains with religious relics.

Pathology Edit

Vladimir Lenin had experienced three strokes during his lifetime. His third stroke caused him to be bedridden and took away his ability to speak. During his final months, he specifically asked Joseph Stalin, who was the dictator of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, to give him a dose of potassium cyanide to put him out of all the suffering.

Additional Info Edit

In order to maintain the preservation of Lenin's body, the staff performs maintenance regularly and occasionally replaces parts with a great amount of focus to detail.
