These mummies are found in the Philippines and are an elusive bunch. Their exact locations are kept secret by the government due to a series of thefts in the 1900's. The mummies can only be found after a five hour ride up the Mountain to the villages of Kabayan and a hike up the stone steps. There the mummies stay in Timbac caves, in their original coffins.
Mummification started shortly after an individuals death. They would then ingest a very salty drink, and once the body was confirmed dead the body was washed , set over a fire in a seated position. Tobacco smoke was then blown into the mouths of the mummies to dry the internal organs, and finally, the herbs were rubbed against the mummies bodies.
From previous studies, scientists believe these mummies were first created sometime by the Ibaloi tribe between 1200 and 1500 CE.
