BiographyEdit

Tetsuryukai was a Japanese Buddhist priest. Before death, he subsisted on a grain-free diet for three years to help in his mummification. Mummified priests are called Sokushin-butsu, meaning "a buddha of the body".Edit

His body was smoke-dried by his fellow priests using huge candles. His body has been placed on display in Japan's Nangaku Temple.Edit
