A revered monk and the former abbot of Wat Choeng Khao (a temple), Luang Pho Daeng passed at the age of 90 in 1979.
Mummification was a rather long process in which they lived on nothing but nuts and seeds for over a year and drank salt water in order to reduce the water content in their bodies. After his death, his body did not decompose, to the amazement of residents and followers, who placed his sacred body in a glass coffin.
Locals visiting the temple pay their respects to the venerable monk’s remains. This temple is located at Mu 4, Ban Choeng Khao, Tambon Paluka Samo, approximately 13 kilometers from the district office on the way to Pattani. To get there, take Highway No. 42 (Phetchakasem Road), turn left at Ban Ton Thai and drive for 5.5 kilometers. The temple is open daily from 8.00 am-5.00 pm.
