BiographyEdit

The Llullaillaco Maiden was found on the top of the Llullaillaco Mountain, and there was no effort to preserve her body or the body of the two children she was with. The cold, dry, and thin climate on top of the mountain preserved her body naturally. She was found wearing a headdress, a brown dress, and was burried with statues, gold, textiles, and pots of food. She had braided hair and was found in a seated position. She is said to be one of the most preserved mummies to have ever been found.

StudiesEdit

Research and analysis done on the Maiden's body have been extensive, especially in regards to her diet and injestion around the time of her death. They discovered that closer to the time of her death, her consumption of rich food such as Maize, and drugs such as coca and alchohol grew tremendously. This research gives scientists a greater understanding of the Capochoca rite and the power of the Incan empire during that time.

PathologyEdit

The Llullaillaco Maiden, as well as the two children found with her, were known to have been a part of a sacrification ritual known as Capachoca. Capachoca was a rite deeply ingraved into the Incan tradition, which sacrificed children among mountaintops to celebrate important events within the Incan emperors life. Through analysis of hair particles, the Maiden was found to have high levels of alchohol and coca in her body during the time of her death, suggesting that she was sedated while awaiting her demise.
