This mummy was found in the Taklamakan desert in the Tarim Basin of Xinjiang China. He, and the host of mummies found in the Tarim Basin are characterized by their signature reddish-blonde hair and European features. The mummy is currently around 3,500 years old.
Though much is not known about the life of this mummy, because of his reddish-blonde hair and the site where he was found, he is believed to be apart of a civilzation that existed between Europe and China. What is know is that he, and the rest of the mummies found at the Tarim Basin site, are most likely not ancestors of modern Chinese people.
This mummy was found perfectly preserved in the Taklamakan desert in the Tarim Basin of China. This has been noted as due to the climate of the desert in which he was found.
These mummies began to become apparent around the 1980's, in the region of Xinjiang Province in China. The mummies found at the sites of the Tarim Basin, are believed to be of European decent with distinct caucasian features. Research by anthropologists point to the idea that they were the earliest civilization found in the particular region of China.
